For those people who are tempted to buy bulk silver, such as Barbers

There are several caveats one must be aware of. I know many of us like to search thru
rolles of barber coins looking for that needle in a hay stack that will make us a winner.
However, great care must be taken that you do not turn out to be a wiener. These coins
have generally been looked thru by the seller and the best or semi rarities are plucked out
before the coins are listed for sale.

1. The coins in the picture may not be the actual coins you receive.

2. The coins shown are often the best coins while the worst are hidden.

3. Even if all coins are shown and you will receive the same coins shown
look and count the AG - Fair coins. You will find as many as 10-12 in a roll
that I would call almost culls. Thus, if you are looking to add to the collection,
the most common dates are the ones you already have. Let us assume you are
looking at a roll of Barber Half Dollars, 20 to a role. The bid prices are often 160
dollars . So 12 culls might be worth $5 a piece because they are worn thin and
their is less silver in them. That leaves $100 for 8-(4-6) halves or $12.50 per
coin.

I am not saying that it is necessarily a bad thing to do, just realize what you are
paying and what you can generally expect to get. GOOD HUNTING!image
