Great coin! Why am I always suspicious of multiple bids ending in round numbers like that? I never bid in round numbers. I always throw a little something on the end to keep from getting nickeled over. TD

<< <i>I don't know what the bidding increments are at this level, but it looks like there might have been a reserve at $15,000. And yes, a fantastic piece! >>
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
I thought it was reported that the mint goofed up and sent off many of these to be rolled and they caught the error before they were released. Maybe this is is one of those error coins.

will be interesting to know since it was a nickel planchet... if the roll was a dollar roll or nickel? I would think normally it would be the dollar roll... at least that is what I would think... always makes me think that someone does this on purpose... just to get people excited... or do it for fun.
Regardless... It is a "Nice Coin"...

Those who are collecting SILVER... will be wealthy shortly!!
<< <i>I'm betting it was a dollar roll. The coin wouldn't fit in a nickel roll. >>
All I can say is that in one recent box of Kennedy's from the bank I found rolls containing the small dollar coins and quarters. Some rolls had the oddball coins as an "extra," but most had the oddballs as replacements for a half dollar. (In the end I think I netted an extra 75 cents)
<< <i>Forget that it is a dollar error, but it is a good looking error and very desirable to me.
The look of the obverse is almost like it was designed to be struck in error that way.
No way I can pay up for that.
Here's to roll searching. >>
Good luck finding one of these. There's been what, 2 found out of about 2 billion presidential dollars minted so far? I'd rather go play the lottery. Lol
(Actually, that's a lie. CRH is fun, but I prefer halves...there's still a lot of silver out there!)

I just asked him..here's his response:
"I found it in a wrapped roll! I am still shocked about this as you can imagine..Thank you for your interest and have a great weekend!"
That surprised me...I thought it would have been caught somewhere along the line. Congrats to him!!

Thanks coinkid855, As I thought the Mint was eliminating bags sales to reduce errors from entering commerce.
I really doubt that this error was found in a roll as mentioned by the seller

You may be thinking of the Monroe's struck on the quarter planchets?

I don't. He seemed very sincere about it, and it's definitely not impossible. He just got extremely lucky...

Glue Gun is the name of the seller, and he simply put that as a background to confirm he has the item.
