Are coins the big "IT" for you, or is there something else...?

Even though everyone doesn't have one, I'll just say Family not withstanding.
For me, it's always gonna be outdoor adventure-sports. Here's a shot of me from last weekend up in the hills behind my house:

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
That is why I call this a fun hobby.

I love coins but anything with a motor can be a blast. I do not lose as much money with the coins. Racing quads and cars is expensive!!

For me, I absolutely LOVE whitewater river rafting (I'm even going to mix coins and rafting by signing up for the whitewater trip at the ANA Summer Seminar though I suspect it will be more of a float trip without much whitewater!). I've been doing it for many years, and have rafted most of the California rivers, the Snake out of Jacksonhole, and my favorite (which I've done twice) is the Middlefork of the Salmon out of Stanley, Idaho. The photos below were of our last trip on the Yuba River about an hour north of Sacramento. It had mostly class 4's and 5's - this rapid is aptly named Maytag and is a class 5. The raft going through the rapids is not me and my family since I was the one taking the photos. These people were the first to go and we all watched because we didn't think they would make it since they were all "high" from the get go, but they did just fine. The two boys standing by watching them are my boys Erik and Troy. The close up on the raft is my family.

Think of me as a slightly more attractive and slightly more ethical Max Bialystock.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!

My back hurts just looking at that picture!
I would MUCH rather be at a coin show than outdoors doing anything!
<< <i>Charmy! That rapid is called "Maytag". Very cool "scary" looking rapid with less consequence than you'd think. It's on the North Fork of the Yuba right near Downieville. I spent about a decade whitewater kayaking, and that float was a regular stop of mine. Kids put a damper on the sport for me. 12 hour plus days don't mesh well with parenting. I certainly do miss it, though. I'd love to post a photo, but all my pics of that sport are from the old film camera days.

We stayed at a cute hotel in Downieville when we took this trip (even did a little wine tasting at one of the little wine shops in town). And yes, Maytag sure looked a lot more intimidating than it actually was when we rode it. We went right through that rapid with no problem, but we hit a rapid further down stream that flipped us all out (except the guide). The water sure was cold and it took my breath away briefly, but we were not unfamiliar with being bucked into the water from previous trips, so my husband and kids ended up floating down stream, but I popped up under the raft and just made my way to the outside edge where the guide pulled me back in.
We've been taking the boys rafting as soon as they were old enough to go on the better rivers. So it's certainly possible to blend kids with some of your favorite activities.
By the way, to keep this coin-related, here's a photo I took in Downieville of their local gallows - it's a reproduction of one that was built in 1885 and reminds me of this Conder Token that Yellowkid has, and one which I covet!
