    I'm really not sure......

Who is "wanybody" anyway, and why would eBay want to call him or her?

I got one at 5:45am about 2 weeks ago. Let's just say that if I hadn't already been awake, the tone of the email I sent to my account manager would have been very different.

I get so many calls from ebay that I recognize their number on my caller ID and generally don't answer. --Jerry

Yup...they showed me the errors of my way by not having a eBay store.

We got the same call about a week /10 days ago...they are trying to first, divert attention from the fee increases by pointing out the "free" x number of insertions you get per month (yay, I save 25 cents on the front end and eat an extra $2- $5 on the back end), and when it becomes apparent that you've done the math, then they attempt to move sellers into ebay stores. Guaranteed monthly income for them whether your items sell or not. I'm sure they (correctly) anticipate a sharp drop in auction style listings when the new fee structure kicks in March 30th. If you run the numbers, it appears that all auction items selling from $50 to about $1900 will have increased fees under the new system. (9% FVF, capped at $50, but let's not forget Paypal fees.). image

I haven't quite figured it out yet but it appears that having an ebay store means higher FVFs so I need to close my store by the end of the month. Is that how you see it? --jerry

If your average sale is over $1300, you may want to consider closing your store, but if your average is below that, you may want to keep your store open.... It's a straight 9% up to $50 max FVF, if you do not have a "store" ... with a "store" it's tiered at 8.75% up to $50, 4% from $50 - $1,000, 2% on any balance above $1000 . That's the way I interpret the new FVF structure, compared to non store & the Basic Store.( $15.95 per month fee)

So can I list low value items in the store and high value items outside the store? Right now I have the choice. --Jerry

Oh, the club is okay, it's just the staff that sucks! Let them handle ebay like they handle
the rest of us (ignore us).

We did. A friendly reminder just to let us know they have devised a even more clever way to confuse and extract $$$

    Thanks everybody.

The reason I asked was that I did get a call but when she insisted on hearing me was "Yes, this is Lee", I quickly followed that with Please "Don't call here anymore" and hung up.
It never dawned on me to ask why they would be calling because I just assumed it was to "yet once again" remind me of the new fee structure and the ½ price "listing specials" they constantly have in order to "encourage" me to give away yet more Modern Crap™ for only .99 cents.

I provide my telephone number for customer communication should the need arise. I do not provide my telephone number for soliticitous calls from eBay.

Yeah, and I'm not a "happy camper" either; this "do the math" is just plain BS. Yo eBay, I DID the math and YOU'RE making a killing! My sales are usually between $50 and $500; something like a 40% increase for them....
