    It's proof and it's nice.
    I like it.

Since you have it inhand, and all we see are your nice shots, does it exhibit noticeable hairlines at a certain angle/view?

    I still like it, regardless.

That's is awsome. One of the best two that I have seen. I am going to go out on a limd and say that it was graded 67DCAM.

Proof 67 DCAM or GENUINE. I love it even if it's a lesser grade than my guess. I've been looking for years for the right example at the right price. I see a few right examples, but never at the right price. By the photos. this one is magnificent.

Please do share and is it for sale?

Nice coin, but is that just missing frost above the ear or rub?

Nice and frosty, clean fields. Great coin - is it 68? Perhaps no.

Incredible coin! Comparing the photos, I'd be surprised if your coin wasn't given the DCAM designation. My guess is 67DCAM.
  • airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,493 ✭✭✭✭✭
It's not much of a comparison from one to the other. Proof surfaces can almost never be judged from a photo, and a bit of lighting here and there can easily change how much frost appears.

That has to be a 68.
    WHAT A MOOSE!

And here it is......66 seems low for this one.

What's up with the obverse denticles from 6:00 - 7:00? I see the same thing on the other picture that was posted, so it's not damage.

Nice proof, looks deep cameo from what I can see.

PR66 for that first coin is just absurd. It and the 68 look like twins, except the 66 is more DCAM than the 68 is.
    When in doubt, don't.

I own the coin, and i thought it was a 67DCAM without looking at the grade. If the 68 CAM,is worth 58K,mine is worth 40+.As far as the denticles,it is on all 80Proofs i have seen.If there are any PR Morgan experts on the board they can answer better than me.Best, and most honest answer i can give.BTW, I have been looking for a PR Morgan for years, and this was the only one i have ever bought.I also do not think any DCAMs in any grade have been graded for 1880 Proofs.image

It has been said time and again that you can't grade proofs from images. The deciding factor on almost all proofs is hairlines, and a photo of a black and white coin will not show any. I understand that people have seen the coin in-hand and have opined on the grade, but to call the grade absurd based on the picture is, well, absurd. A PR62CAM could just as easily be made to look like this with the right lighting.

Jeremy,I agree with you 100% that it is impossible to grade any series without seeing the coins in hand, especially when deep mirrors are involved.Hope you get a chance to see it in hand.Best,LC
