Comments on this Copper Nickel Indian Cent that looks Bronze....

I bought this pretty 1859 Indian cent from Tydye at the Baltimore show (along with that neat Indian cent watch fob I posted earlier this week) for my personal collection. It has really pretty toning for an 1859 copper nickel, and I had to do a doubletake because this toning is more like the color seen on the later Indian cents that contained more bronze. I don't think I've ever seen a copper nickel with this type of toning before. Would welcome your comments.

Good thought, but it was already holdered when I bought it, but I showed it to Rick and he felt it was just a regular 1859 copper nickel.

I also found this really pretty 1864 copper nickel Indian cent. I've never seen these colors on a copper nickel piece before either. It has gorgeous luster and no hairlines so, just to see what happens, I sent it to be graded, but of course would not be surprised to have it bodybagged. I showed it to a couple other copper experts, some of whom thought it would grade, others thought it probably wouldn't. It's very pretty just the same.

Call up NGC and find out what their holders weigh, then subtract that out. image
