of course, I guess it could always be fake but size and weight (27.1) are pretty much on. not that it matters in this day n age.
I guess the cleaning helps the authenticity? who would scrape the crap out of a fake coin, other than I guess a master-counterfeiter?

Do the lines also cross the devices? I can't tell. They seem to go right up to the edge of the design and lettering, and continue on past them. If that is the case, I suppose they could be die polish-- but I don't recall seeing this many so prominent on a TD. Then again, I am no expert. From what I can see, the coin appears to be genuine, although I'd like to see some closeups of the dentils along the left obv. where they look rather weak.

FWIW, I have seen fakes heavily polished to remove raised 'blems' or pimples in the fields that occurred because of the transfer die process.

Coin is genuine... The rev. chop mark gives it away.

True, the chopmark is placed where they usually are on a genuine TD-- smack on top of the eagle (or lady Liberty), it also looks like the right size and shape (Chinese character); but I think it only adds a few point in the genuine column for me (unless Robkool's post is in jest, along the lines of "Well, it has a chopmark, it must be genuine[wink,wink]). The overall appearance and details of the coin lead me to believe it is most likely genuine.

I believe the coin is definately genuine,but the cleaning would cause it to end up not grading.That's too bad,because it looks like it was nice before the cleaning.
