Poll: During 2009, which source captured the largest percentage of your purchasing?

Always a fun poll to see how everyone is going about their buying coins. Please comment.

I also ran this poll last year, and the year before that.

I actually didn't spend a whole lot on coins this year. Probably 90% of this year's spending went towards the purchase of an AU53 1877 IHC from Bowers and Merena.

Ebay was definitely king for a single source, but I had many other internet purchases.
Therefore I just voted on the "Internet" decision.

No more than 20% of my purchases came from in-hand inspection during the period of buying!

I think all but two or three of my coin purchases for the entire year came from the internet.

Probably 75% of that was off the BST.

Heritage just beat out the mint.

Well e-bay was it for me, the other was the U.S.Mint.

Brian Greer got most of my money this year just as he did the year before that. I think JJ won that prize in 07.

I went with the internet on this one because that covered many of my purchases.

Many deals came from the BST and other members here.

    Happy New Year all. image

The UHR put the mint over the top this year.

After years of giving most my money to ebay the mint won easily this year. The UHR and gold spouses took a bundle.

UHR was my biggest single purchase, leaving the mint as my #1 this year.

I spent the most at local shows. I prefer to see the coin in hand before making a purchase. I did buy some coins off the internet but grading from images does not really work for me. Happy New Year Everyone!

I voted eBay (all raw) with the largest coin dealer in the world a very close second!

'09 was a weird year -- the first ever time I probably spent more on grading than coins. On net I sold almost as much as I bought, and a few months ago I decided to start getting some of my better raw coins sent off to PCGS -- not because I like collecting them slabbed but because I got concerned about being hit by a bus and seeing my wife try to sell (among others) a raw XF-40 1877 IHC to the sharks and skeptics.

I voted for the Mint. I bought the coin nobody wanted yet everyone purchased. That placed me over what I purchased at my local B&M. eBay was a distant 3rd.

Mostly a specialty dealer that deals in Bust and Seated coins. Heritage and occasionally Teletrade as well.
There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

Two specialist dealers got about 60% of my money this year, about 25% to major auction houses, the rest to local shows and ebay.

My first year NOT buying any coins on eBay in a long time.

The eBay option is down considerably from last year and the year before.
