I certainly won't be stocking up on any red copper unless it is priced to reflect this new lack of guarantee. I do feel bad for all those who just had the rug pulled out from under them. That being said, I still feel more comfortable with a PCGS slab on some of my higher priced coins but worry about what will be the next shoe to fall.

Would you stop collecting, entirely? If not, would you buy coins graded by other companies, uncertified coins? Both? Or you haven't thought that far ahead?
I have always tried to be true to my own convictions. I will buy a coin that I want to buy raw, slabbed, stickered or with a little bow or bean or whatever on it. BUT, I will pay the same for the coin....what I decide is a fair price TO ME....regardless of any of the above.
I collected before the TPG craze and remember the initial claims that the slab would enable INVESTORS to purchase a coin site unseen with confidence. Well I am not an investor so they did little for me. But I will admit that there is a place for the TPG's -authentication. This falls back on their willingness to guarantee their slabs contain what the label states and unfortunately one of the major TPG's might be attempting to back-step away from this fundamental premise of their business model. That will be a business mistake for them.

<< <i>What would it take for you to stop buying PCGS graded coins? >>
I don't know....and that's the truth..I am a brand type of person.Once I find a good quality brand I stick with it even with a few faults such as PCGS's First Strike issues. It would take a lot of changes in PCGS to lose me ....
PCGS graded coins are IN GENERAL better coins and easier to sell.
If that stopped being the case.......
Bottom line, I am simply restating what has already been said. Buy the coin, not the plastic.

Good point. If PCGS adopted the 100 point grading scale, there would be a mass defection to other TPG's.

If HRH is involved in any Tiger Woods rumors I would throw up in my mouth and stop buying PCGS coins on principal alone

It is interesting that Tiger Woods keeps coming up in these answers. There is nothing that Tiger Woods could do, short of become the Grading Finalizer, to keep me from buying PCGS product. Even then...

He is...and although I'm not even in Brad's neighborhood when it comes to expertise with busties I still agree with him.

PCGS failing to keep up by having a way to distinguish real material.
If that stopped being the case.......

If one doesn't have a qualified holder for ones coins,
then one is apt to lose ones pants, due to financial loss.
Thus no holder, no pants, no self respect.

Thats what I was thinking.
has anyone stated "100 point grading scale"?
Interestingly a UK grading company has started grading using 100 point scale:
http://www.cgs-uk.biz/cgs-uk/aboutGs
a bit too far re-micro grading IMHO.

Today that is the case. Hands down.
What was the time frame when NGC was the market leader? Travers spells this out in one of his books but I can't remember.

Otherwise, if PCGS reputation was tarnished, I would consider not buying PCGS coins.
