Einsteins at ILNA strike again

I have to hand it to the board of ILNA for being completely ignorant to a portion of their membership. The ILNA 50th anniversary show is scheduled for for September 17-19 which just so happens to be during Yom Kippur. Now I know that the Jewish calendar is a mystery to some, but the holiest day of the year is on most main stream calenders. For those of you who are not familiar with Jewish traditions, Yom Kippur is the day Jews spend the day fasting and praying. Essentially ALL Jews attend some sort of service to the same extent that even non-practicing Christians attend some sort of service on Christmas and Easter. There are a lot of Jews in the Chicagoland area and who have been supporters of ILNA for years. Would anyone schedule a show on Christmas or Easter? My guess is absolutely not because of the outrage of the membership. The fact that this 50th anniversary show was scheduled then is appalling.

(I am also Jewish, so it's fair game for me to make light of it.
We planned the spring Michigan State show in Flint 5 years before the show.
We had to consult a Catholic Priest to make sure the show date would not fall on Easter.
When Easter occurs has to do with the phases of the moon or something.
These religious holidays can be a real pain when it comes to planning shows years ahead of time.
At least Christmas comes in the same month and the same day each year.

Einstein was Jewish, so the "Einsteins" probably knew what they were doing.

Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the first day of Spring unless the first day of Spring falls on a Sunday and there is also a full moon in which case Easter is on the following Sunday.

Right around "Spring Break" right?
The name is LEE!
The show runs for 3 days, so unless the holiday is 3 days, can't you go on one of the days that is not the holiday?

It's happened to me on some shows I wanted to go to, but couldn't.
Too many shows and they all have their own timelines/agendas.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Well, this isn't some obscure holiday for some obscure religion that only a handful of people in the world would be affected by. It's the holiest day of the year for millions upon millions of people.

Actually it doesn't. Orthodox and Coptic religions still use a calendar that puts Christmas in early January. They also often don't agree on the date for Easter.
<< <i>So when the show hits and there are maqny many less in appearance lets not here the show promoters complain about it since they obviously did no checking on the dates with two major religions and the two major customers. My bet is that they will learn a big one form this one, and my prediction is it won't happen again. Glad Bochiman isn't running these thigns otherwise these types of things would happen regularly >>
Not to be too big of a P.I.T.A. but dont be so sure about learning. CSNS planned their big show a couple years back on Passover and then badmouthed dealers for leaving early to prepare for the Seder. For those non-Jews out there, the first Seder is something almost all Jews (and many non-Jews do as it was the last supper)

Greenie - the reason that ILNA scheduled their show on 9/17-19 was that Long Beach had their show on the same weekend as ours. No one on the ILNA Board, to my knowledge, had any idea about Yom Kippur. Just to put your mind at ease for 2010, we are back on the weekend after Labor Day at the convention center in Tinley Park. For future dates I will see to it that ILNA does not have any conflict with Yom Kippur or any other important religious holiday. And Greenie - if you have a question or concern about ILNA, please feel free to contact me by PM here on the forums or secretary@ilnaclub.org.

Nice shot at me. Glad you got that in. I could take one back at you, but I feel like taking a higher road.

CSNS badmouthing Jewish dealers because they were leaving early to prepare for the Seder? What a bunch of holes (I know who they are, and one of them rhymes with "sleazebo".)

I knew that......
True, except the Church considers March 21 as the first day of spring and the 14th day of the moon as the full moon. It almost always works out the same way if you use the correct astronomical dates and times. One exception is 2019. Astronomically Easter would be March 24, the western church has it as April 21 while the Eastern church will be April 28.
