Can anyone post or tell me the difference between the two types recognized by PCGS.
Only a handful of the "new die" type have been certified.

<< <i>I believe the "new die" are specimen strikes. I have seen a few of them in NGC holders. They appear very Prooflike and have semi mirror surfaces. If I remember correctly, the Specimen issues were limited strikes for collector promotion.

Thank you. when I bought my 50 peso gold from an older gentleman, he had about 20 in a bag hid in his kitchen vent. I was ignorant about the dates and the series in general so I just picked the best looking coin. I do remember though that some of the coins had a different look to them....some matte, and some not. What I ended up with was a 1947 that I think is a 64 for $1100.00 a year or so back.
It was a crazy day where I had stopped in at his yard sale and asked him if he had any coins for sale. After talking for a while, I ended up buying over $3000.00 worth from him.
