Maria Theresa, depending on size likely a thaler. Interesting that it is not the usual design, which has been minted for several centuries.

I had to dig out my 18th Century Krause since I hadn't seen the reverse design before. Appears to be a Australian Netherlands 1 Ducaton (assuming that it is about 40mm in size) - struck at the Antwerp mint (hand below the arms on the reverse).

My old Krause lists the Ducaton at 60/VG and 120/F

  • Thank you! Yes, I was confused because of the unusual obverse.
  • Could mine be a fake?? Replica?

I personally do not see anything questionable about your coin.

I should amend my comment - I was referring to the second set of pictures. The set posted in the 1st post are more questionable. The spacing of the lettering to the edge of the coin appears different from the second set of pictures. The first set lacks some of the details that should have still been present

The second one is from a different mint also.
