How does the Reverse proof get a mintage of 3 over the limit of 10,000?
And what is going on with the mintages of 2008? How is FB getting the"real"mintages, anyway?
    I am losing interest quickly.

.According to the last NN Stats ... the 2008 W MS 1/4 oz was as follows
    6,203 Single coin
2,997 Four coin set .... combined total of 9,200 .... how did FL Bill come up with 7,000 more?

These are only numbers of the total struck before waste, not the total sold. They could have struck 5 bazillion of a coin but if it only sold 5000 and they melted the rest then the final number is 5000.

My mistake. I imagined the extra 3 coins.image

I have no idea what's going on with the Mint. FB filed an FOIA request.

how did FL Bill come up with 7,000 more?

Conversely, why didn't NN report on this by filing their own FOIA request? Their numbers were being depended on by a large number of collectors.

True. True and True. However, using the 1/4 oz. Unc 2008-W AGE for example, did they waste 7,000 out of 16,000 coins? If so, then I want to be Director of the Mint. I could make a nominal improvement and look like a genius.

  • So, for instance, when will we ever know the true number of 2008-W 1/4 oz gold eagle unc. coins in existence?

As in, fewer than 10,000, or way more than 10,000?

    I'm thoroughly confused.

Now this is getting more interesting, because N.N. claims that their figures are from the US Mint and not depended on collectors.
Who's figures are we to believe as a final sold figure? Also, that is the quickest response to an FOIA, since most of the AGE's did not sell out until about 2 month ago.
