When Did The Word "Sick" Become Associated With Sports Trading Cards?

Do a search on eBay under the category of Sports Trading Cards with the keyword "Sick" and you'll come up with 61 hits; completed items shows 142 items.

When did the word "Sick" become associated with Sports Trading Cards? The dictionary defines sick as "affected with disease or ill health." I tell ya, if a card were truly sick, I wouldn't want it.

    On another note it could be there are just some sick people on Ebay.
    or some sick hyped up steroid pro players selling there own cards on Ebay.

    personally I will go with #4 on your hit list: 4 a: mentally or emotionally unsound or disordered : morbid <sick thoughts> b: highly distasteful : macabre , sadistic <sick jokes> <a sick crime>

    I remember hearing the word "sick" in relation to cards all the way back in the early 90's (at least on the east coast. the west coast might have been using it earlier).

    I always laugh at the sellers who put up an auction and end it with... WOW!! HOT!!! ON FIRE!!!! SWEET!!!


    Just list the card, if it deserves a "WOW", I'll give it one when I bid on it
