Anything fun hobby related to do on a Thursday night in Vegas?

I'm headed off to Vegas tomorrow for a work conference. I'll have the nights off after 5:00. Tomorrow night I have tickets to see Penn & Teller's magic show at my hotel, Wednesday night I have tickets to see the comedian Rodney Carrington, and Thursday night I currently have free. Is their anything hobby related worth checking out on Thursday night? I thought about going to Ceaser's and getting a picture with Pete Rose and Kenny Stabler, but not sure yet.

I also like good food so suggestions in that arena would be appreciated. What time is nightfall in Vegas? Also considering playing a round at Rio Secco Golf Club.

What would you do with a free night in Vegas?

I know what I would do in vegas, but that is just me.

You could go to Smith and Wollensky's and then go to Field of Dreams underneath it. Field of Dreams tends to be a little overpriced, but they have a pretty cool selection of autographs. For your autograph collection you could hit a few poker rooms and get one of the pros to sign a poker chip or something.

I've had my fill of that lifestyle before image I found that it made for good short term fun and excitement, but the long term return wasn't worth it.

Are those both in Caeser's? What is Smith and Wollensky?

I hear ya, I'm getting old and more reserved, just turned 38 about 10 days ago, and with a 10 year old and a 4 year old at home, I'm looking forward to having a relaxing evening rather than out partying.

Smith and Wollensky is a steak house. I think it is next to Paris? stand alone building. Good chain.

  • In regards to Smith and Wollensky.... I ate at the one in Vegas. If that were to be my last meal on Earth, I would die happy.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

Sounds like a good option for me then. What's the rough charge for one??

Got a betting question. If I place a wager on games that aren't played until I'm back in Texas, do you have the option to collect via mail?? Or do you have to collect in person?

Yes, on the back of your sportsbook slip will be claiming by mail instructions. I've done it a few times. Never had any issue.

Walk into the casino and yell "Fire" as loud as you can...in the ensuing panic grab some $1,000 chips off the blackjack table.

I've got a giant hot dog for my slot of fun.
  • Go to the Bunny Ranch and ask them to trade you for a Lou Holtz auto. Don't expect too much for it as it is worthless there too.

I'd try but I've heard it's kinda difficult to get in there as they've been rather busy stroking Jamarcus Russell's ego since his career hasn't exactly launched well with the Raiders. Rumor has it that he books all the girls until he finds one that doesn't ask him "Are you in yet?"

Mike, a couple of great restaurants are Delmonico's Steak House and PS Valentino's (Italian) at the Venetian. Both will require advance reservations. I would recommend the Bone in Rib Eye at Delmonico's and the Veil Osobuco at Valentino's. I'm getting hungry just typing this. Have a great time out there. I will be out there the first week of December for the LV Marathon.

Very good going down. Not so good on whatever exit strategy it decides on though.

And for the love of whomever you pray to if any, don't eat at Maggiano's in the Fashion Place mall.

I can not compete with that. A better one would have been, Dwayne Bowe caught a STD there. At least he found a place where he can catch something.

Mike, If your looking for a fabulous steak, do yourself a favor and go to DelFrisco's. Any concierge will be able to help you with reservations and directions. If you do go to DelFrisco's ask the greeter to show you the TABLE! Its the most amazing thing you will ever see.

As for the sports Book, I would recommend the RIO for future betting purposes!

P.S. Not sure what your budget is, but DelFrisco's isnt cheap: $40-$55 for a cut of meat!

I think you're thinking of the Stardust, which is next door. Slots A Fun is still alive and well, although along with Circus Circus, they are now the oldest (non renovated) casinos on the strip I believe. So they're probably next in line for the controlled demolition party.

That's funny. Reminds me of a bachelor party, in LV, that was just WRONG in so many ways.
