I was taking a look at the weekly update from Heritage. I really like Heritage, and this is no knock against them. Does anyone know why the unprecedented step of publishing a supplemental catalog was taken, a mere ten days before the scheduled auction sale?
Here is the announcement:

Multi-Million Dollar Double Eagle Collection Added to Dallas Auction
Over three decades, Heritage Auction Galleries has not printed an Auction supplement for any special collection, no matter how spectacular.
Until now.
We are breaking with tradition, because we are that excited about the Baltimore Collection of Liberty Double Eagles. This multi-million dollar collection is being auctioned as an integral part of our Dallas Signature Auction, Oct. 23-25, now available online at HA.com for your viewing and bidding.
The astute Maryland collector who assembled the Baltimore Collection brought together more than 150 Liberty Double Eagles over a period of fifteen years. They exhibit premium quality attributes in grades that collectors covet. Many of his AU58 coins are exceptional, with the clean surfaces and eye-appeal that collectors so appreciate. Deserving of special attention — and needing no further introduction — are his 1854-O, his 1856-O, and 1870-CC.
These wonderful coins now take their place alongside 200 other Dallas consignors, and the other anchor consignments (the Jack Lee Estate Inventory, and the Lucy Collection of Proof Liberty Nickels). This Signature® Auction contains more than 4,500 wonderful lots of important American coins. Hopefully, you have already begun your research in our free Permanent Auction Archives at HA.com, where you will find amazing images, lot descriptions, and prices realized data for 1.5 million numismatic lots. This is the greatest numismatic resource on the Web, and it is still free!
Highlights of the Baltimore Collection of Liberty Double Eagles include:

But looks like a forced sale. I sure would want some advance marketing, if it were mine.
I have not seen a big drop in Heritage auctions. The coins i have been buying are not going down. About all i have seen is a little less stupid bidding. I would have thought the auction prices would have already dropped by now. I win a coin or 2 in most heritage auctions, but i bid to win if i place a bid.

<< <i>I would have to think it was a forced or a panic sale that was added at the last minute- just a flying guess. >>
Those coins sound like they could have been the anchor of a much larger sale and more thoroughly promoted had the consignor had a little patience.
