Given it's rarity, I think it belongs here. Nothing like the amazing coin that precedes this one by @Boosibri but my contribution for the day.

Which book is that @Abuelo ?

Which book is that @Abuelo ?

@Boosibri , it is Richard Long's "GOLD COINS OF THE EARLY MEXICAN REPUBLIC 1823-1873". It is an excellent book with 2 defects. Number one, it is in desperate need to be updated as it was published in 2004 (so no eBay data for example). The other problem is that it does not define beforehand the terms scarce, rare, etc. So you really need to pay attention to the text on each coin to know what he means by the rarity of the given coin. For instance in this particular coin you can see that in 50 years, there have been 9 offerings between the normal date and the overdate (likely few times the same coins) so you can see that this is really a scarce issue. But it is a great reference and readily available.

On its way to me. This Hidalgo Grande is a two-year type and the 1955 has a mintage far less than the 1956--584,500 coins versus 3.5 million, yet there is little market differentiation (and there are so many types from this era).

    Comments?

    Kind regards,

    George

The 1955 Hildagio's are tough in high grade .

I have one that made PCGS 65

I am relatively new here. I've really enjoyed some of the great coins in this thread. I don't have many to add.

I really like the circulation cameo on this 1905 Canadian 5 cents

BTW, I assume this is the XF that Mr Long described, it is NGC VF35.

Great medal @Abuelo Thank you for sharing it. I've been waiting to add Grove's references to my shelf because I'm afraid that will result in a new collecting direction for me, as i am quite fond of these proclamation pieces.
