There's nothing like...
spending a small bundle on coins, getting them in the mail, and hating every single one of them to start off your holiday weekend!
The big $3K ANACS-slabbed item is 160 years old and is as deeply toned as a chrome hubcap.
The Barber half is overgraded (F12 instead of VF) and shows evidence of a good harsh cleaning under some toning.
The commemorative doesn't look anything like the picture. It's a crappy MS60 - butt ugly for a commemorative no matter how cheap it was. I have no idea how that coin could possibly be the coin pictured
Sorry, there will be no pictures. I don't want to ruin your weekend either, and I also don't want to tick off the dealers that sold me the coins. They are good guys that accept returns and are also among the select few of revered dealers on this board. I also want the Gods of Numismatics to look favorably upon me so that when I die, I may be slabbed in a PCGS slab and be CAC'd instead of body bagged and send to the bullion bin for melting. All is not lost except the return postage and insurance. I'm just bummed at such a horrible numismatic start to the holiday weekend.

It happens, far too often for me, too.
I just found out that 2 of my SCD's came back in a BB

<< <i>Sorry to hear about the duds...maybe it's time switch to collecting modern crap!
But the modern crap is just overpriced crap! It's just fancy pocket change. Who wants to collect something they spend every day? When I show someone my collection, I don't want them to pull out their pocket change, ponder my collection and go...SO WHAT!
