Mastro Auctions selling BVG Gretzky RC

I'm selling what is possibly the nicest Gretzky rc in mint condition. It has a legit shot at 9.5. I'm only moving it to pay for my PSA 9 Gretzky rc. Link is http://www.mastronet.com/ and its auction #914. I had firm offers last week for 5500. It better not go for less or I'll be ticked.

  • I've never seen that auction site before ... wow though, nice stuff.

I have a lot of vintage cards to sell. Would that site be better than ebay (who I hate using for anything)?

I noticed it only has a few auctions a year according to the calendar on their site. Is this correct or am I missing something.

Also, do you pay the $75 to join and then get to submit cards or sets to them?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Mastro and MastroNet accept consignments. They are not a "public" auction house ala eBay, Yahoo, NaxCom, etc. They are oft times selective about the consignments that they accept and they typically charge a consignment fee to the lots that they accept ranging from 10-15%. There are several solid auction houses similar to Mastro including Heritage, Robert Edwards, Lelands, etc. If you want to bypass the eBay route, which can be tedious for some, you may want to consider one of the more effective and customer friendly online auction services. I would recommend JustCollect.com. They run regular (daily and weekly) auctions on eBay and are regular advertisers here and on several other sites. They have quick payouts and very solid realized prices. The great thing is that they do all of the work for you at a reasonable rate, have an online tracking system for all of your items and afford a very quick payment once your items sell.

I hope this answers your questions. If you want to contact just collect, I think you can get them at info@justcollect.com or call and ask to speak to Leighton.
  • Thanks! Is the Leyland Auctions the one in Hillsborough NC do you know?

ETA: never mind... I found it through google. Thanks again.

Seaford/Merrick (Long Island), NY and it is Leland's not Leyland.

As far as the question of how do you register and do you have to pay, here's instructions.

To bid in their online auctions, no fee is necessary. To bid on their Premier Auction that is Live in Chicago, a 75.00 fee is required. The auction you see does not require the 75.00 fee. Here is the link to register without paying the fee. https://www.mastroauctions.com/index.cfm?Action=DisplayContent&ContentName=CLS1

I had hard offers of 5500.00 on ebay from auction #320219302235. Of course I want to maximize what I get out of the card but I can't "end the auction early" so what ever it goes for it goes for. Anything under 5500.00 you can make a profit.Text

  • No payment is necessary to sell. I did the 0% comission deal so it will cost me nothing to sell it. That's a good deal. Your really high end cards can do well there. To get the 0% deal just ask for it. Its not always advertised.

PLEASE, let's tell the whole story. The 0% option is for single graded cards valued at over $1000.00. Let's not make it sound like it's available for all consignments or that someone can ship them a 5000 count box of EX-MT 1988 DOnruss commons and expect Mastro to add it to their auction catalog.

I still think that you should've taken your "firm $5500 offer." I will be surprised if you realize that number in this auction. I'm not even sure the card will reach that price with the buyer's premium added.

Good luck and keep up pumping the auction...
  • Agreed. The 0% commission does have conditions but the two "premiere" online auctions have enough buzz to bring a lot of eyeballs to the table. This card has a chance to go high but I need some bidders from here to give me a bump. I'd say its risk free but if you win this card for 2500 you still can walk away with 2000 profit after buyers premium. Thanks again.
