Got to love the new eBay Detailed Star Rating
 of 4-17-04 004.jpg)
So yesterday, according to the ebay "Dashboard", I qualified for the 15% seller discount. Today I get a positive feedback from a buyer that says something like, "Great item, slow shipping, not sellers fault". Checked my DSR and under shipping it dropped from yesterdays 4.8 to 4.7. The buyer dinged me because the P.O. took 14 days to deliver a package. He knew it was shipped the day he paid, but faulted me for the slowness of the P.O.
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

<< <i>Both shipping time & shipping charges are the two that are going to keep the 15% discount out of alot of good sellers pockets! >>
Maybe, maybe not. There's a thread on the PS board titled, "Are Your Efforts To Increase Your Stars Working?", comparing 30 day DSR's to lifetime DSR's. The vast majority who've responded have higher 30 day numbers in the shipping categories.

DSRs are seriously flawed (and not in the seller's favor).
<< <i>My DSR for shipping time is holding steady at 4.9. IMO that is the easiest one of the 4 to maintain at high levels. >>
I would beg to differ. See my previous post for evidence of such.
<< <i>As I posted in another thread, I ALWAYS ship same day or next day- I go to the post office seven days a week- and my rating is 4.7. >>
Do you ship outside the US?

Yes, I do. I'm pretty sure that's the problem, but it still sucks to know that there's nothing more I can do, and I'm just going to have to live with getting blamed for slow delivery of international mail.
eBay to international shippers:
<< <i>My DSR for shipping time is holding steady at 4.9. IMO that is the easiest one of the 4 to maintain at high levels. >>
All it will take is one clown to give you a 2 or a 3 and you will need 40-50 5s in a row to counteract it.
<< <i>I have gotten dinged on the shipping even when the buyer received his items the same week. >>
The buyer probably doesn't even know he dinged you. For sellers, anything less than a 5 is bad, but eBay is telling buyers that a 4 is good.

There's no question that's the problem. Anybody who ships internationally is going to have an uphill battle on the shipping DSR's. eBay should probably provide for that with a bit lower requirement for sellers who do.

No discount
4.9
4.8
4.8
4.5 this was probably the same nitwit that gave me neutral because he thought something could have happened to the item we shipped him.........but didnt
life is still good...................happy easter everyone......

I've seen that argument posted time and again. Sorry, but buyers aren't that stupid. If they were, nobody would be getting strong DSR's.

It would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.
<< <i>this system is far from anonymous. >>

According to eBay, a 4 rating on shipping time = "Quickly" and a 5 = "Very quickly". I don't see a substantial difference between the two- at least, not enough that buyers are going to spend more than a half second or so analyzing the transaction (unless it went very poorly, in which case the decision would certainly not involve a possible 5 rating) in order to decide which to give. How else might one explain the fact that sellers who offer free shipping don't all have a 5 rating on shipping charges?
I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

EBAY is not at all worried about having to discount FVFs.
FREE shippers are still not getting 5s. When the NEG-victoriously
FB system is implemented, ALL sellers are going to get creamed.

Regardless of how eBay defines the levels, the evidence clearly demonstrates that buyers have figured it out just fine.

Sellers who've been witholding feedback might.
