Anyone had any problems with him ??
The funny thing is that he is a Power Seller with 100% feedback on almost 1300 transactions, so he's doing something right.
A while back he had a nice size lot of 2002 Heritage chromes up for sale. I didn't need all of them, so I sent him an email and made him an offer on the ones I needed at the price I was willing to pay (just under $6/card). The next day, I won a different lot on eBay that contained some of the ones I had offered to buy from him. I emailed him telling him that I wouldn't need all of the ones I had said I needed. I told him which ones I still would be willing to buy, and I gave him an offer that was the SAME per card as the first offer. He send me back an email basically saying that he thinks I'm low-balling him...He's not an idiot..I'm trying to swindle him....Don't talk to me again. I'm sure quite a few of us have gotten those kinds of emails from sellers.
Couple weeks ago, I saw some more Topps Heritage that I needed, and I went to hit the BIN. I was blocked. I wasn't really surprised and that is his perogative.
Last night, I see a 2002 Topps Heritage Grandstand Glory Relic Hank Sauer up for sale with a $10 BIN. Then I see who the seller is. I sent him this message:
"Hello, I know that you have blocked me from your acutions. Would you reconsider ? This is one of 2 2002 GG Relics that I still need. If I am unbocked, I will hit the BIN as soon as I can.
Thanks, Ian"
This morning, I have this in my Inbox:
"YEA SO I DID! I DON'T WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU, YOU TRIED TO LOW BALL MY ASS ON THE CHROMES AND ALL THAT OTHER CRAP,PLEASE DONT WASTE MY TIME PAL,AND DONT TRY ANOTHER EBAY ACCOUNT CAUSE THIS EMAIL IS BEING FORWARDED TO THEM FOR FUTURE ATTEMPTS, KINDY DONT EMAIL ME AGAIN I DONT NEED YOUR BUSINESS THANKS"
Not very tastefully done. No very classy. Turning down guaranteed business bucause he feels he was slighted.

Anyhow, I saw that he won an 06 red auto that I forgot to put a snipe in for last week. The card ended at 9.99, and I sent him the following email:
Saw you picked up the Oravetz Red auto for 10 bucks - steal! I was away from my computer and didn't have a snipe set for it. I just picked up an extra 01 chrome Sean Burnett /552 - would you be willing to trade straight up, since you're more of a chrome guy? Think of it as picking up the Burnett for $10 and getting yourself some good karma?
Thanks-
He responded with:
im sorry who are you ( on ebay) and why are you watching what i bid on/?
I sent this, which has not been responded to:
Sorry I didn't clarify. Gmail keeps all of our previous correspondence together, and I take it for granted. My ebay name is mudflap02 - I bought some 02 chromes from you a few months back. I'm not "watching what you bid on" - I had the Oravetz auto on my watchlist, and didn't set a snipe for it since I thought I would be home to bid in person. It was still on my watchlist, and I saw that you had won it, and just wanted to see if you wanted to trade. I can't tell if you're in the hobby for pleasure or strictly business - if you don't trade cards, then pardon my interruption.
Thanks-
By the way, $6 per card for a lot of 02 chromes is a very fair offer. I finished my chrome set from 02 this year (started in march, finished in august) and that is a decent price.
I picked up a ton from ebay id: bjbrall (I forget his real name right now) but he basically bids on EVERY 02 chrome card that comes up - I have sold some to him in the past and he is an aggressive buyer. I think he is hording them because he already has his set. He knows the key cards that never come up - Daryl Kile and Mark Phillips and Joe Borchard are 3 of them. There, I outed them...pick them up cheap if you get lucky, but be prepared to pay $20+ for them. However, he sold me about 30 that i needed for my set (for around $6 each), so I recommend contacting him directly - you have probably bid against him in the past. I know the other guys who seem to be buying 02 chromes now too (have bought/sold/traded with most of them). Make sure to tell him I sent you his way.
As always, Ian, you have first dibs on my 02 chrome extras (I have 3 unopened boxes on the way, hopefully a jeter or clemens chrome for you).

<< <i>...interesting business model he has. >>
I thought so too. I know it's only $10, but turning down guaranteed business does not equal success.
This is especially true with set builders. Perfect example - Jim Parker. Many of you have bought from him. I have done at least 10 absolutely smooth Topps Heritage transactions with him in the last 6 months. Never a glitch, always polite. Informs me when he gets new stock in.
