Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

I really would love to show off my collection of sets, but how?

Now, I love seeing everyone else here showing off their PSA cards and memorbilia and stuff like that and they all look fantastic (especially those that can collect true vintage, like pre-1974). Now I too want to show off my collection, but what's the best way to do that? Now, I could just take a digicam and take pics of my sports card corner but all you'd see is a couple sets of shelves and lots of binders. Probably not the most interesting sight. image Like, if I got the proper equipment, could I use a camera overhead or something and tape myself going through the sets in the binders and pointing out the highlights?

I know, I drool over that thread. Those 60s/early 70s sets look awesome. I'm sure someday it'll be my turn to get those sets too! image

EDIT: Hey, why are all these replies being posted backwards? image

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

But you were asking what was the best way to show your collection.

Doesn't matter which years that thread represents; a collection is a collection.

Why not start scanning them? Maybe go through each set and scan the 50 cards that you like the most. Not just the most valuable, but the ones YOU like. Maybe you remember the card as a kid, or you like the picture, or you think the guy's got a funny name.

I say this a lot, but I think you should put together a website to show off your collection. I've had SO much fun with mine, and it puts me in touch with other collectors all the time. Even more importantly, it helps me connect with my collection itself.

Check it out. I'm more than happy to give you some tips, if you're interested.

FYI, my site costs well under $100 a year. They're dirt cheap and a LOT of fun.

Well, I do remember seeing this 1990 Topps football (don't laugh) card that had this guy with this huge flat-top hairdo; you can tell what year that card was made for sure! image
