A friend has a "Horseman Ten" restrike gold coin from the SS Central America that he's try

Anyone know what these coins are worth or currently selling for? What's the mintage? Are they real restrikes from original dies? Thanks for any information.

Google is your friend, so tell your friend about Google being his friend because friends don't let friends sell Horseman Ten's with a friendly Google.

They are proof restrikes made from gold salvaged from the SSCA. I purchased one (from mrearlygold); he might know the mintage number.

    Here's one active at Heritage.

Here's another, listed with a BIN on eBay... (Price seems a tad high as I though the $1,250.00 price was about right.)

Actually, this one's cheaper on eBay...

Does anyone recall what these originally listed at when they were first offered?

1250's a good price. I had a lot of them. No idea what the mintage is. Only have 2 left and I'm asking all the money for them ( more than the 1250 )

They're neat little items. I'd be glad to buy more of them if the opportunity presented itself.

A little OT but I remember back in the mid-70s, my Dad was negotiating to buy a bar in Marine City MI. While at the bar, the owner was taking the quarters from the pool table and in with the quarters was a Horseman's type eagle. I remember that they had a Redbook value of $15,000 at the time. Don't know if this was a ploy to make the bar seem more attractive or if an eagle would function in the coin slot. But, it certainly got me excited!

If it has the whole kit that would be less than wholesale at this point.

There's one for sale in the most recent Coin World for $1,477.
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

Thanks for all the responses. This forum is a great resource. Sounds like there is quite a variation in the price of this coin.
