What are your top favorite Coin Years and Why?

For me, it would have to be:

1- 1795 Everything about this year is cool. The silver dollars and halves are do-able as lower grade examples are available and even the copper cent is a neat coin. A close second is the year, 1794.

2- 1836 Great looking type coins for the year including gold.

3- 1916 Again, neat coins to collect and a fun year to gather a set in XF or better. It would have been perfect if somehow the dollar had been minted this year. A close second is the year, 1921.

4- 1964 Some real pretty toners are to be found and some neat varieties too (anyone for a 1964 SMS?).

And yours?

1832 - Same reasons you stated for 1836 but it's a cooler looking number image

    1853

Lots and lots of coins to get including some really tough ones if you want to complete the set.

Here's mine from a while back. I've got some upgrades since then.... another 20 years or so and I should be complete image

All great years! Especially strong too is 1853. I hadn't thought of that one.

What year, (I'm just thinking outloud) offered the most variety of coin types I wonder?

And, yes... wrong forum... (but I ran with it anyway...)

I actually took some time, sat down and figured that out once upon a time but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. I know that I posted about it on the forum but don't remember if I made a thread or if it was just a post in someone else's thread. I'm not about to go searching through 20,000+ posts for it either image Is it the memory that's first to go?image

I agree! I remember something along the lines of that thread... kind of, sort of. I do recall it was an amazing assortment of coins when all was said and done, for that one year. I'm thinking it may have been a transitional year too, allowing for multiples for the same type (like, 1916, for example).
