BST Experience--DennisH

No, nothing for sale or trade, but important (to me) to write nonetheless . .
Just completed a sale with DennisH whom many of you are familiar with. Not being someone who is much of a regular on the BST, I'm not sure if this is considered poor form, but here goes anyway . .
A GREAT experience. I have plenty of routes to get to the coins I need but this buying experience was a blast. I can personally attest that the purchases and relationships you can routinely make here can be among the most fun you will have. Good guy, good coins, great time.
Thanks Dennis . . . I'll look here on the BST more often from now on . . .

I've been doing B/S/T deals here on these board for a few years now and less that 1% have had any issues that might reflect negatively.
Hooray for Dennis and all the rest!

<< <i>I've always thought we should have a reference thread here - or at least a "bad experiences" thread. My trades/buys here have been pretty great overall, but it's always hard to start a trade with someone new. >>
I agree. It would be a great reference, especially for those new to the board.
On one of the home theater boards I'm a regular member of, they implemented this in a manner that works very well:
One of the board veterans who the consensus deemed trustworthy, volunteered to be the "keeper" of the data (almost needs to be a daily regular on the board).
Rather than people posting their comments, reviews, etc., in the thread, they PMed them to this person (good for those who don't want to reveal their trades/sales in public).
The keeper of the thread updated the original post regularly (which is a list of the Login IDs of each person that has had a transaction reported), and a score after each person's name, i.e., "Robert Plant: +17" which would signify seventeen positive reports. Over the course of time people build a score/reputation (think a primitive version of eBay feedback).
Thread was stickied.
Very easy to maintain.
The only downside is that it doesn't include negative reports... which is almost a good thing in a way. How do you keep negative reports from getting into a he-said-he-said with the "keeper" caught in the middle? If negatives were included, the "keeper" upon receiving a negative sale/trade report would have to contact the other party, just to make sure that a transaction even ever took place, otherwise people could "spike" the rating of someone they don't like.
I don't know that there's a perfect solution, but a positive reporting system of some sort is a start. With the myriad of people here, figuring out who is trustworthy and who isn't is a crapshoot...
