I realize that you must draw the line somewhere; however I just sold an 1842 (very common) Seated Dollar in PCGS AU50 that was as nice as any 55 and most 58's I've seen.
It might not hurt to at least not rule out looking at the AU50's.

out of curiosity can you tell me how much you sold it for?

    thanks

I think ANY seated dollar in about EF45 and above that isn't horribly cleaned or dipped to hell is a keeper. They are VERY hard to find, since most of them have been badly abused. I'll bet 95% of them are cleaned or dipped.

Why just PCGS? You can find nice ones in ANACS and NGC holders. I just bought one in an ANACS holder for my type set.

simple! I own 14,456 shares of CU stock!

Now.... my motto is " I buy the holder not the coin"!

please sell me some ugly dollars in high grade PCGS holders and I will be happy in my stupor!

The 1853 is somewhat interesting.........but I can't see paying the BIN price. Write me if you want to discuss it. thanks for the links.
