The coolest 'coin' I have ever found at a coin show, Charles II Love token

Bought this today at the Lockport, NY coin show today. I have never seen something like this before. A love token from 1782 on a Charles II (1660-1685) halfcrown. It cost me many pretty pennies, probably paid way too much for it. But I think it is really cool.

When selling, having something "different" can be very attractive to a buyer. Does this piece have a backstory?

To tell you the truth, it was love tokens and exonumia that most turned my head at the Charlotte show. I guess I've gotten so jaded by everything else, it took something "different" to jazz up my interest. I only ended up taking home about three pieces, though- one being the WW1 dogtag on the French coin that you got from me, the other a love token on a US Seated quarter, and the third just an unusual token (not hand-engraved).
Seeing an 18th century love token is refreshing, though- that is a fascinating piece. Interesting that it was engraved on a coin that was already a century old.
Maybe ye Dead King will post a picture of the love token 1773 Spanish 1-real he dug while out detecting in 1994 or so. I was immediately green with envy over such a find. It too looks to have been engraved a century or so after the host coin was struck- it's very Victorian in style. Has the initial "M", as I recall. At the time, I think Michael was a little disappointed not to have found an unengraved coin, but I think it being a love token added to its appeal rather than detracted from it. Later, when he moved briefly to SC, near Charleston, and I was paying him a visit, I dug up a Mexico City 1-real that had been made into a love token, and an early one at that, but it was very crude and primitive.
