From one of the links in the story, it looks like the Germans use a curious method of holding coins. Are those metal tweezers?

Maybe, maybe not. I sure can't tell from the picture what those are made of, but they look a lot like the plastic ones of various sizes that my Beautiful Bride had in her toolbox before she retired as a Hughes Aircraft electronics assembler.
