Years ago I ran an ad in The Restrike and bought several hundred Victorian and Edwardian pennies from collectors around the country. Beautiful old coins, many of them still slicked up with gun oil to keep them "fresh."

very, very cool pics everyone! I can always count on this forum for a nice variety of coins.

Can someone tell me how the bronze pennies of the late 19th century hold up compared to the copper coins of the early 20th? I know copper tends to get some dark spotting, and will eventually turn chocolate brown. How do environmental conditions effect the bronze issues, and what should i look out for when selecting these?
