Help! White Metal Conservation

I need to know how, if possible, corrosion on a white metal medal can be halted.

I will photograph the item within a few days, but the Forum may be interested in what Stack's describes as an "Extremely Fine" medal where, "Lustrous surfaces show four obverse spots." Un-freakin'-believable!

White metal is so reactive that it is tough to reverse it. As I had hinted at, it may be possible for some mild electrolysis to reverse but the damage would have to be seen in person.

MS-70 will remove the black spots if soaked. It wiil take it down to the base medal, however it will also remove the silver wash that make the medal silvery prooflike giving it a flatter finish.

I suppose I could google, but what is MS-70?

I think my metal may be zinc. I believe that MS70 may not be appropriate.
