I repent.
I have had a huge change of heart when it applies to collecting coins.
My darkest desires were on Morgan, Peace, Bust, Seated coins, but never
collected them because I thought they were out of my price range and
knowledge. Just recently I have purchased a few Capped Bust halves
and other silver...they are beautiful. Ohhhhh the time and the money
I have "wasted' on the modern stuff.
My mind set was these are tomorrows classics. Okay, they may someday
but not in my life time. I want the classics in my hand today.
I have a shelf in my closet full of US Mint stuff from 1998-now. Oh sure I
have made some money on the 1999 silver proof sets, the 2003 disappearing
numbers, the westward journey nickels, the 2006 anomalies. These things
are just a way to make money. Oh don't get me wrong, I have saved a few of
these to pass on, but now I am going to start collecting some of the classics.
In the past I have sold some nice seated quarter with arrows and/or rays
to purchase the latest from the mint OR a 1917 PCGS MS64FH T1 for some
US Mint items. I could kick myself.
I am going to empty the closet and start purchasing some classics.
I repent. Now is the time for some stuff that I really like to hold and
admire.
Here is my latest coin that I really love. BTW, I never new that
half dimes were so small.
1832 Half Dime XF45; LM5/V8 MDS, R1
1935-S PCGS MS65 San Diego Commemorative
Thanks for reading.

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
<< <i>What you're going through is part of a natural process than many (maybe even most) coin collectors go through. It's evolution in a sense. You've nothing to "repent" for.

Thanks for the variety attribution. But can you explain what all the letters mean...I know that LM5 is common and R1 means the same, but what does LM, MDS, and V8 stand for?
Thanks for the message.
V8 = Valentine Die Marriage #8 (Daniel Valentine authored the book everyone went by before the LM book came out)
MDS = Middle Die State (There is Very Early, Early, Middle, Late and Very Late describing the condition of the dies)
R1 = Rarity rating 1, common

Yes, we all come around eventually.
