Local dealer + Colonial Acres. I bought the 1998 and 2000-W's for each denomination as well. I had been ebay'ing Colonial, but thanks for their website links on the other thread, Shiro. BTW, I have the package for you sitting on my desk. It will go out tomorrow.
<< <i>I figured it would be a good idea as these coins are getting real close to melt. >>
They'd have to drop dramatically in price to get close to face. The Canadian government has been recalling and melting them for some time now.
Nickel is going for well over a dollar per ounce (US). Canadian nickels before 1982 and most of the dimes and halfs are pure nickel. >>
True on the coin price drops, but with the London Metal Exchange only having about 3000 tons of nickel on hand, who knows how far up nickel is going to go. I hear the Chinese are buying it like crazy. Never thought I'd see the day nickel became a semi-precious metal, but here it is...
Also Canadian 25c pieces from 1968-2000 or 2001 are pure nickel. If it has a small "P" below Queen Elizabeth then its just nickel plated steel. Everytime I get a pure nickel Canadian in change, I'm saving it.
