I took advantage of their free shipping with a pre-order, so hopefully mine is on it's way. I look forward to reading it and maybe I can find some interesting tidbits to share. Thanks for keeping us (me) updated with the links!
Does anyone know the Chapter Titles? The book description states that the "Millennia Collection" is referenced throughout the book, but I can't find what that collection is.
Chapter One: Ancient Greek Coins Chapter Two: Ancient Roman Coins Chapter Three: Coins of the Middle Ages Chapter Four: Coins of the European Renaissance Chapter Five: The Age of Reason? Chapter Six: An Age of Revolution, 1776-1914 Chapter Seven: Coins of Colonial Latin America Chapter Eight: Coins of the Latin American Republics
Writers:
Richard G. Doty is senior curator of numismatics at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. (National Museum of American History, Behring Center).
Robert Wilson Hoge is a curator at the American Numismatic Society in New York.
Ana Lonngi de Vagi is a researcher of Latin American history and coinage, and is a former member of the curatorial staff at the numismatic department of the Banco de México.
Bruce Lorich is a numismatic writer, cataloger, and dealer, and an expert on British coinage.
Michael J. Shubin is a cataloger, researcher, consultant, and appraiser in numismatics and antiquities.
David L. Vagi, a specialist in Greek and Roman coins, is an active dealer, researcher, and writer, and is the author of the two-volume Coinage and History of the Roman Empire.
No, but thanks for reminding me...Citibank had some kind of enormous security breach and has changed my card number--I think in the interim between my order and the time for shipping, so....I guess I'd better call them up and give them the new card number so they can send it.
The Whitman Publishing truck is rolling on from Charlotte ANA straight to Baltimore. When I left Charlotte Sunday morning there were still a few copies of Money of the World left, so if you're in Baltimore stop by and inquire.
Ira Goldberg and Bruce Lorich were on hand to autograph the book Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately David Vagi and Ana Lonngi de Vagi (who, along with Bruce, Dick Doty, Bob Hoge, and Mike Shubin, wrote chapters of the book) had to tender their regrets last week and weren't able to make an appearance. We're aiming to get everyone together for a massive autograph session at the next New York International show!
