Possibly WTB a Darkside gold coin for a future MD Forum giveaway prize

The Metal Detecting Forum's Virtual Treasure Hunt III should launch by February 1st, perhaps a tad earlier.

Since we have a little "piratey" theme goin' on, I thought maybe a pirate-era (1700s) gold coin like a 1- or 2-escudo piece, or a guinea or something from the 1700s (Dutch ducat from the 1600s or 1700s?) might be a cool Grand Prize. Our budget will likely be between $200 and $400. I think we may have already exceeded the $200 mark in contributions to the kitty.

As a nod to our forum host, I thought a PCGS-graded coin would be good. But if we are gonna do the Darkside piratey prize, we might have to take what we can get.

I am alternately looking for 100-year-old (1907-dated) US coins in PCGS plastic, which might end up being easier to find. But the Darkside prize would be cooler, if one of you has something that would fit the theme. Do let me know.

I would love to buy the prize coin from a forum member, but if I have to I will go to The Bay.

If you sell us the coin for our Grand Prize, and can give us a good price on it, you will be listed as one of the donors. (We are not asking for a giveaway from you- just a fair deal on a coin that we ourselves will be giving away).

PM me if you have any potential gold prizes.
