Overpriced at just the BIN or the starting bid as well?

I just bought a 1917 set, toned and graded MS67, 66, 66, 65 for $140. Now I'm hoping it looks as good as that set. Pictures weren't as good for sure.
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

For an unslabbed set, the start is too high. The box alone, if it has the 1918 date on it and really dates back to the time of issuance, is worth $40-50. For this set to bring this kind of $$$, all examples need to be slabbed 67 and higher. Keep in mind that slabbing a maunding set is $70-80 alone.

In all fairness, I think that original quality maundy sets are much tougher than folks think. I would consider this set with the box and unslabbed at around $275 but a return priviledge would be required.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

Agreed. For a slabbed set of sufficiently high grade it might be a decent price, but as a raw set, not so much.

I think a set like this, if it's all original/natural toning and in its original 1918 box (is it?), has a definite "coolness" premium to it, but not at $500 let alone $700 for the BIN -- especially with no stated return privilege.
