Anyone use a Stereo Microscope?

I am contemplating buying one like this one Link to scope. . Was wondering if anyone uses one or has any advice as what to pay and what to watch out for?

Also, any advice on the best digital camera's to use?

  • I use a one. Not all the time, but from time to time and always in conjunction with the use of my 16X loupe.
It's best to hold the coin in your hands when using a microscope. You can rotate and tip the coin to get a better view.

Terrific for attribution of varieties and repunched and misplaced dates.

  • I also use one on occasion, it is an old Bausch & Lomb form the late 50's early 60's that my dad got from work back in the 80's when they switched to electronic style that hooked up to a computer. It only weighs about 30 lbs!!

Christmas 2005 my wife gave me one as a gift. I love it! One of my digital cameras fits right in the opening and it takes some cool shots.
