Are there certain coins or certain types of coins that spend more time going from dealer to dealer as opposed to finding homes with collectors?

If so what type of coin are they generally? ie high dollar coins, high grade type coins etc....

When these coins bounce from dealer to dealer, are there prices usually adjusted higher and higher as they play the musical chair game?

If the answer was yes to the previous question, what happens when the last dealer that is holding the coins when a crash eventually does happen?

  • Sure, heavily promoted coins often get traded more often. Collector coins often get squirreled away. In some series, collectors tend to complete the set and then sell. This leads to higher turnover in those series.

As for the last part, when the music stops, some dealers go out of business and find other work or retire. If the downturn is severe a lot of them have to do this, if the downturn is mild, only a few. There hasn't been a wash out like this in over five years. Some of the newer dealers won't know how to respond. Those few that have borrowed a lot of money and lack the wisdom of how to react could lose everything. That said, I don't think there is a crash anywhere in the near future. A modest downturn sure, a crash, not at this time.
