Not bad for melt...

At the time I won this, it was below melt. Now that gold has dropped I'm into it for $2 over melt, so I guess I got hosed. image

Also a couple of pieces I made best offers on, both bought strictly based on color. They both turned out nicer than expected.

I saw that French piece but was running short on Cash to bid.

I'm glad it went to a great guy.

I like those early 20F coins, they are way undervalued IMO.

I love the Zwei Mark. I have one as well but not even close to that condition, maybe VF tops.

A lot of world gold is undervalued. Which is kind of amazing considering the condition a lot of them can be had in even in the 1800's.

There's a lot of those Defeat of Napoleon 2M and 3M pieces out there. I guess a lot were squirreled away as commems, and they often show up with interesting toning. Any time I see one that looks interesting I pick it up. They're dirt cheap as early commems go, usually selling for $15-40 in nice grades.

Compared to U.S. gold, hell yes! But in all fairness there do seem to be a lot of them out there, and I'm guessing the demand is lower, other than as a commodity. Just out of curiosity, how are these treated by French collectors? Are they considered collectible, or just bullion pieces unless you get into MS63 or better?
