I picked this coin up at the ANA show in Kansas City last year. Came back as AU58, which is pretty fair - in fact, it was exactly what I thought it would grade. There's some softness in the strike, but some of it is due to rub. I'd say it has a lot of eye appeal for an AU, it's been a favorite of mine and I don't even so much collect the half reales.

Very nice coin and the grade, Ricke. I'm surprised that these coins, of such small size, are more often encountered in AU-MS grades than higher denominations of the same series (at least in my experience).

I believe the diameter is about 18mm, if memory serves.

Is the half reale the smallest of the reale denominations?

yessir, it is. Later on they issued quarter reales in some countries, but during this issue the half reale was the smallest denomination.
