What do you think of the Stack's auction schedule for 2007 (printed in CW)?
In the most recent issue of Coin World (or at least the last one that I received), there was an ad for the new Stack's. In the ad, it listed the upcoming 2007 auction calendar for the firm. I don't have the ad in front of me right now, but there was at least an auction per month. How does everyone feel about this? Will the special nature of the legacy ANR firm be lost by having an auction every single month. Will the catalogs be tossed aside, in the pile with the nondescript Heritage telephone books, and hardly even opened? How is it possible to put a special touch on so many auctions? What do you think about this?

There is quite a bit of information in the catalogues.
Stack's has always had almost monthly sales. ANR less so, but together I certainly do not see any problem.
There will be auction sales as long as people want to sell their coins via that method.
IMHO, collectors today do not build their collections with as much care as previous generations. The collections are much more specialized today. The current mentality is to build a registry set and then sell it. Too much instant gratification.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
