I guess a Harley would be good for a coin collector since we enjoy looking at stationary things. But it's ok to clean a Harley. In fact it's recommended that you polish the chrome daily. I wouldn't put oil in it since the drips make quite a mess. Riding isn't recommened either. Breaking down is a relatively good thing since they don't crash much when stopped. The unathletic riding position is positively dangerous so if you want to ride, get a real motorcycle like a BMW or a Honda ST. Make sure you get the Harley accessories catalog. It's thicker than the yellow pages and all glossy photos. Most of the stuff in there would easily grade MS 63 but you'll pay a premium for stuff graded PL. Unlike in numismatics, there is a required attire you should wear in the garage while polishing and enjoying a beer. You'll find many varieties in the catalog.

Hope I'm the first to introduce you to Harley Bashing but you'll get used to it.

Be safe. If you're a new rider take the MSC.

PS If you do start it up, post a photo of the pipes, it is stiill being debated whether heatblued pipes are AT of NT. Seems to center about whether running a Harley is a natural condition or not.

The EVO engines dont leak like the old ones

Besides, for cruising a Harley is an MS70 and a BMW is XF45 all day long !

Hey. I thought this thread got nuked.

Sure they've gotten better. I hear the oil leaks are adjustable now so you can control the size of the traditional mess. image

Talk to me when you get closer to the century mark:

Did 1650 miles in 3 days two week ago. Climbed a volcano at the midpoint.

    Enjoy your new bike.

Nice bike but beware the disappearing thread.

I posted a photo of something I thought was cool with a similar Subject Line about a week ago and it got nuked. I didn't see the responses in the thread, but I got enough PM's from others to let me know it wasn't appreciated.

Then again, maybe I'm just not in the circle or something.

Nice set. I take it you're about a year younger than me. I was born in Dec 56.

When threads are labeled "way OT" then folks don't need to open them.

And I fully expect it to disappear--I thought it already had.
