Getting into the selling side of collecting and making a little $$

I have been a collector for many years. Until about five years ago, I never sold a coin. Over the last five years I have sold many coins, both here and on ebay. I would like to get more into selling profit. I recently sold some gold for a former neighbor and made a little money. Years ago I sold their collection for them when they lived across the street but it was to a dealer.
Here's my question/dilema. I am very leary about who I tell my collecting secrets to, for obvious reasons. I feel I am missing out on an untapped market of family and friends. How would you go about telling people, without risking security. I do keep 95% of my coins in the bank. Am I being overly cautious? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
