Those are tooling marks on the coin. Sometimes there is damage from the feeder fingers also.
Like this one I have
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

JRocco, is this not a double stamped? If you look at "ERICA", you can see that the letters are faintly visible. "M" looks like it was stamped 2-3 times??? Thanks!!!

It does sort of look like the faint letters in the back. Do you have a microscope of any sort?
