PCGS XF45 Barber Halves I would like to Trade/Buy

Here's the deal. I'm putting together a strictly XF45 PCGS Barber Half Set. I have 72 of the coins as XF45. The rest are higher or lower. Here are the coins I need with the current coin I have. All coins are PCGS Graded.

1897-S XF40
1905-P AU50

I am willing to trade straight across any of my AU pieces for your XF45s assuming they are accurately graded and not fugly. I am after the strike and wear versus the color. As for coins I have that are of a lesser grade, I have quite a few dupes I would be willing to throw in or will trade and give you cash or would be happy to outright buy the coin from you. I will also be happy to pay a 15% finders fee for any of the above mentioned coins in PCGS XF45 after the deal is consumated.

I have plenty of references from board members and dealers regarding purchases, trades and finders fees paid.

I look forward to hearing from anyone and everyone. You can PM me or email me at craig.r.petersen@uscg.mil

Very Respectfully,

LT Craig R. Petersen, USCG

I had my first hit right away for the 1908-D. StrikeOutXXX provided me the link. Thank you so much. 1 down, 20 to go.

I've located 1 graded (ANACS) EF-45 Barber Half (1897-P) and another ungraded (selling as EF-45) dated 1900-O from JJ TEAPARTY

I would assume you could cross these coins, but getting the specific EF-45 would be tough. Lovely coins though!!!

Good luck, if you decide to pick these two up.

    I'll keep an eye out,

    Stone,

Those have XF40 written on them all day long. The 1900-O is nice looking. You can see the evidence of a soft strike oni the reverse down by the eagle's right foot. That one might come close. I'll contact Gail. She is really good with giving the actual skinny on how certain coins may grade/cross to PCGS.

Many thanks for the heads up.

  • Craig:

I have five coins which might fit your requirements, including the 1896-s, which from memory I believe qualifies as a
PCGS-slabbable XF-45., but dont know how to PM.

I just bought a 180-shot 8.1 megapixel Sony digital camera today and should be able to get photos for early next week
    if you're interested.

Since you've served in this country's armed forces, I would want any trade to be an even exchange. and not to profit
    at your expense.

BTW, an 1897-O in PCGS F15 just sold on Ebay for $760. Makes my F12 for $500 dirt cheap by comparison.

FWIW, I bought an XF-45 Barber half from Craig a while back, and it is one of the highlights of my Dansco 7070 set.

Craig, I hope you get your coins!

What is the current population of the missing XF45 Barbers?

  • Craig, I have a raw 1894-O that I think will grade at XF-45. I'm about to send it off to PCGS for grading and if it comes back as XF-45 I would be happy to sell it to you for a very fair price. If you want to see pics it will take a little while cuz my camera's on the blink. You got me interested in the Barbers and gave me a lot of sage advice (not to mention a beautiful 11-S!)...looking forward to returning the favor if the coin comes back as hoped. Take care!
    Cheers,
    Dave

UPDATE: I just looked at the coin...it's a former ANACS AU-50 that was cracked out in March 2004 by the fella I bought it from so he could put it in his album. I'm pretty sure it will slab...just hope it doesn't come back as an AU-50. Will keep you posted.

Thanks Dave. That 94-O is a beaut.

    97-S has a Pop of 3
    05-P has a Pop of 2

I am almost to the point of putting my 1905-P PCGS AU50 in my pocket for a few weeks.
