Does Whitman defer to a pioneer author of a coin series, try to bring the author into the fold, or s
I think it is great that Whitman is publishing all of the new coin books that are coming out. It seems that they are basically re-writing the Breen Encyclopedia one step at a time (although Whitman did not publish the Breen book). Does anyone know if Whitman "stays away" from particular coin series that is tied to a particular pioneer author? For example, I really like the Kagin book on territorial gold. I think it is an incredible book. However, that book has not been updated for 20+ (?) years. If Whitman sees that there is a need for an updated book in this field, does it start salivating and work with the pioneer author (in this case Kagin) to try to bring him into the Whitman fold and publish an updated book? Or does Whitman go out and find its own pitbull to write a new book on territorial gold, and try to snuff out any loyalists to the Kagin book? Or does Whitman consider such a book on this topic to be untouchable because everyone equates territorial gold with Kagin, and the topic is just too hot to handle, even though an Obscene Profit could be made? Does anyone know?
