Nice bust came in the mail today...MUCH nicer than the ebay pics!

I've got the variety figured out...but a second opinion and or grade guess is welcome. If you want to hack it for artificial color, that is ok too. image

AU 55 condition, bumped to AU 58 for eye appeal! image

    -Amanda

Edited to add- In my opinion, there is wear on her hair and also on the eagle's head and the tops of his wings and his foot.

Outstanding Bust and incredible eye-appeal. Tough to tell between high grade AU and lower MS. I'll say lower MS and beauty!image

Overton 112 AU-58 detail. There look to be some pretty good marks in the fields. Wiped, dipped and retoned. Net AU 55.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

With out seeing it in hand I would grade it AU58, and if is uncirculated I would go as high as 64. You definately have the eye for quality bust's.

John - I won't even attempt to give this a grade, but I will say that is one pretty bust.

wear is evident, but on a good day a TPG could chalk it up to cabinet friction and assign 62

    Hey John.
I usually love your selection of bust halves, but I have mixed feelings about this coin. It is not MS by any stretch. It is a high end AU coin-should be 55, but will go 58 in most holders.
What I don't like is the toning on this one. I do not like the way the coin is toning around the bird. Look at the toning pattern under AMER and the pattern above and below the left (facing) wing.
I know a lot of folks will say that they see that toning pattern often, but that does not make it OK by me.
I am not trying to dump on your coin John- I just don't like that reverse toning.
25's often come with real nice color- this one just a little too frisky.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

I'm gonna say MS62. If it hd no toning I'd say AU58 but I think it will be bumped up for the pretty color.

I say 55, I want to give it a 58 but can't. The fieds are too flat.

    Hi John,
Once again- I did not mean to dump on your coin.
You have the coin in hand so you can see the toning pattern and I will, of course, defer to your impression with the coin in hand. You have seen enough of these ladies to know what you have. Just to explain myself a little better so you don't think I just wanted to knock your coin.
Looking at the pics posted, I didn't like the off shade of green that looked like it circled the bird. The pics may just be emphasizing the look and based on your feeling, I guess it did, to me at least.
The obverse has that solid, deep toning that I love in this series. I love the way the obverse toning rolls into her band and over her bust.

And for the record- anyone new at grading these coins- a lot of real high end sliders are bumped into low MS holders, but I can't imagine any top tier TPG putting a coin with this much visible rub in an MS holder. The obverse rub is toning in well, but the reverse rub is very easy to see, even in a pic without having this coin in hand.

If you ever take a new reverse pic of this coin John could you shoot me a PM with the new image.

Hope you took my comments as honest and not an underhanded knock John.

And speaking of stman-where is he??? I bet he likes this one.

Technical EF- you can see the outline between the motto and eagle's head that defines the area where the luster is worn off. I downloaded the image and traced the area of wear, but the file is over 50k so I can't repost it. As for marks and clealiness, I can't tell what's on the plastic and what's on the coin, but it does have an unnatural shine to it, almost oily. I'm not a fan of this one as it is imaged.
