Name a numismatic specialty you once collected seriously, but wish you hadn't.

For me...modern commemoratives. Ugly, meritless designs are the rule rather than the exception. (I sold them off several years back and don't miss them at all.)
All glory is fleeting.

Good choices have made good additions to my collection,
bad choices have been lessons that I will not (or should not) forget.
I collect a lot of different areas and enjoy all of them.
to trade off was a "porno" token and medal collection. While many of the
pieces were very artistic it was still a little embarrasing to own it.
It was probably a mistake to try to collect goodfors from all 50 states. There
are just too many of them. Now I just collect IN and IL.
I didn't have a clue how big of a task it was. Both sets are probably 70% complete.
As much as I love them, I just gave up the search.
Looking back, I should have picked just one.
To sell it off would take too much time, right now,
but I can think of several coins I wish I had that same money in.
Doggedly collecting coins of the Central American Republic.
