First Strike Buffalo MS70 PCGS vs. NGC
Yes, another Buffalo thread!
My neighbor [not a collector] told me this morning he bought 10 "rare" NGC Buffalo gold coins. Not knowing what to expect, I took a look and sure enough they are First Strike coins and he paid $999/ea. through some kind of direct mail promotion by the ?????? Internatioanl Mint.
I did a quick check and see these are selling for about $850 on ebay so he did not get ripped too badly, at least not yet. I then looked at the same for PCGS MS70 and the price more than double at $1,800/ea. on ebay.
Is it the plastic or am I missing something? I guess alot of non collectors are buying these, given the novelty and gold being in the news alot.

Is that what they're selling for, or what sellers are asking?

That's just plain weird. I'll bet he didn't understand dutch auctions and thought his bid was for five coins.

This auction smells of something. I think the buyer bought his own coins back. $999 to $4400????

Now you're starting to catch on the 70 games.
The price is supply and demand. Look at the population of NGC 70's and the population of PCGS 70's
NGC grades more 70's than PCGS does - a lot more.
But if you cracked out 5 NGC 70's, 4 PCGS 69's and one PCGS 70 and mixed them up - nobody would ever be able to put them back in the original slabs.
