Is there a place to sell BU Copper Memorials for scrap?

i have almost 100 rolls of BU Memorial cents from 1959 to 1980 that have been searched for high grades (though i didn't search them for errors just not enough time). i noticed that dealers only pay maybe 60-70 cents a roll, which including what the tube cost, is not even worth it. is there anywhere to sell them as scrap or does any board members buy them for scrap?

  • is it worth going through the trouble? unless i can get at least $1 a roll it's easier to just take them to the bank.

Maybe put them into whitman folders and sell them on E-bay right before Christmas, or donate them to YN's

I think it's a virtual certainty that you'll get at least $1/roll. I sold about $300 face for about $800 a year ago (in my case, I split it into a dozen or so lots, by date).

Ship using the USPS flat rate boxes for $8.10.

Definitely better than going to the bank.

  • My scrap guy buys copper cents, but if they're BU coins I'd definitely put them on ebay. Somebody will pay for them.
  • Can you say, "Junk Yard" ? ? ?
