I Guess I'll Just Stick With The Dirty Nasty Crusty Ones!

stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
Ha, some of you thought I was probably going to post an 1807 Turban half. Well, I might have picked up "one or twoimage"....
but here is an 1807 Bust quarter. The kind of surfaces I search for. Besides it being very heavy on the crust factor, under close inspection
it has the old-time iridescent undertone hues of rose/blue embedded Deep into the surfaces. No impostor hereimage.

Go ahead and give a grade opinion if you like.

I would give it the grade of incredibly cool...... but is that a light print mark on liberty? image

I never noticedimage Actually you know darn well I studied it for quite some time in the image and in person. I don't think it is, and on a coin such as this
if it was..... believe it or not it's not important to me.

    Nice crusty coin... congrats!

    I'd give it a VF-30/35 any day.

that coin is much higher than any VF grade. I say AU50

The shield lines look nearly uncirculated and perfect. Definitely wear on many other parts of the coin though (or could it be strike weakness?) Did these quarters suffer from poor strikes like they big sister half dollars did?

Gorgeous original bustie, Steve. So you don't just hoard 1807 Halves you also hoard 1807 Quarters?image

I’m with the others on this one: An “off-the-chart”, original quarter. A lovely piece.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Nice quarter.

PCGS VF30 or NGC VF35 would be my guess.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

Hey stman- what a beautiful quarter. That is the kind of quarter that makes me stop and stare.
She should go at least a 35. 30 would be an injustice and 40 may be hopeful, not impossible, but a tad hopeful. But unless you are an active buyer or seller the grade of this coin is neither here nor there- it is a keeper for sure.
    I like that coin stmanimage
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Thanks for the comments folks! Grades are not really important to me. I buy coins not plastic. I'm also tough on ones I own and don't give points for ownership. That said, I'd put it at about a 30 like most said... possible 35 but it really does split hairs. Hopefully most just gave their own opinions and not what they think a service would grade it. Well except this one.image

Interesting once again as NGC called it VF-25. image How can this be?image
